World Economic Outlook 2024

We start the year working with our client IEB submitting its report "World Economic Outlook 2024".. Proud to publicise this work, which promotes the financial education and which has developed Aurelio García Del Barrio ZafraD. in Economics and Director of the Global MBA with a specialisation in finance at IEB. Although this report is not very optimistic in its main conclusion: The global economy will continue to show signs of cooling and weakness.

García del Barrio warns in the report that "Global growth estimates point to an environment of economic slowdown in which the transmission mechanisms of monetary policy to the real economy are beginning to show their effects more strongly, with credit contracting, labour markets weakening and inflation showing clear signs of moderation".

From the IEB, the expert points out that the impulse that fiscal policy has been providing will start to be withdrawn in 2024, in sync with the monetary tightening cycle.. The reduction in the inflationary rhythm has not yet reached the desired degree in terms of both the present rate and expected inflation, exceeding at both times the target set by the different central banks and confirming that economic policy still has to counterbalance a multitude of cyclical factors and different degrees of sensitivity to interest rates, as well as structural factors that emerged in the wake of the pandemic, such as the energy transition, deglobalisation, the relative scarcity of labour, the protectionism of resources and the greater role of fiscal policy.
